Writing a Formal Letter


Writing a formal letter/ an inquiry. The pupils are going to refurbish a flat and need to write an inquiry and purchase the materials and tools they need (appendix).

Learning how to write a formal letter, using correct layout and proper language.

Good communication requires knowledge and skills in using vocabulary and idiomatic structures, pronunciation, intonation, spelling, grammar and syntax of sentences and texts. Knowing how to be polite and taking social conventions into consideration in any number of linguistic situations are also important skills to master. This goes hand in hand with adapting the language to the recipient and the situation, including distinguishing between formal and informal, written and spoken registers.

Write the first draft of formal letter.

Hand in first draft for evaluation. Correct it and hand it in once more for final evaluation.
